MAGIC FESTIVAL 2024 | May 10–12, 2024 | IX International Festival of Modern Magic
After two years, the popular magic festival returned once again to Uherské Hradiště, where it has built a reputation as the largest and most prestigious festival of modern magic in the Czech Republic. From May 10 to May 12, 2024, professional magician Jiří Hadaš organized the 9th edition of the International Festival of Modern Magic – MAGIC FESTIVAL 2024 at the Klub kultury Uherské Hradiště.
This year’s edition welcomed not only magicians from the top ranks of European modern magic, but also a very special guest from the United States – the Queen of Magic and World Champion Juliana Chen.
Other international guests included the Austrian duo Anca & Lucca, the most successful mentalism couple in the world who have defended their FISM World Championship title in their category three times, Portuguese magician Daniel Prado, awarded Talent of the Year, the outstanding Brazilian magician Alain Simonov, Hungarian magician Tamás Badár, whose innovative magic impressed even David Copperfield at the MAGIC Live festival, and finally the excellent Italian magician Giancarlo Scalia.
MAGIC FESTIVAL is held under the official patronage of the Czech Magic Union and the Union of Moravian Magicians, and this year it was also supported by the Mayor of Uherské Hradiště, Ing. Stanislav Blaha.
MAGIC FESTIVAL is a friendly gathering of professional and amateur magicians. This year’s edition included two competition blocks, divided into the categories Close-up Magic, Stage Magic – under 18 and Stage Magic – over 18.
During the award ceremony, the Mayor’s Prize of the City of Uherské Hradiště was presented, and the absolute winner received the GRAND PRIX award.
The festival began on Friday with the Close-up Magic Competition, featuring: Andrej Grol, Tomáš Podzimek, Antonín Brtník, Dušan Cápa, Tomáš Potocký, Joanna Paleczka, Jindra Zelníček, Štěpán Šmíd and Denis Vicherek.
The evening program featured the mentalism show THE MIND-READING REVOLUTION, performed by the Austrian masters of mentalism Anca & Lucca. The show was also open to the general public.
After the performance, a traditional Moravian magic afterparty followed, accompanied by live cimbalom music and a rich buffet of regional specialties such as sausages, head cheese, pastries, plum brandy and fine wine.
Saturday morning started with the Stage Magic Competition, featuring Lukáš Mistr, Alon Zaikin, Yurii Antonia, Elena Kovaříková, Radek Vylíčil, Toni Vasil, Manuel Luarte, Lukáš Pék and Jan Vaidiš.
After the competition block, professional lectures and seminars were presented by the international guests Tamás Badár, Juliana Chen and Giancarlo Scalia.
Saturday traditionally culminated in the festive MAGIC GALASHOW, where the competition results were announced. The gala program featured not only the international stars but also leading performers from the Czech magic scene, including Czech Champion Adam Kotinský, Obinn Magic, semifinalist of Czech-Slovakia’s Got Talent, and illusionist Jan Vaidiš. Special guests of the gala evening included Matěj Kodeš, holder of multiple Guinness World Records for his bubble show, and comedy juggler Michal Tříska. The evening was hosted by Jiří Hadaš together with well-known presenter Martin Hrdinka. The gala show was open to the public and the theatre hall was completely sold out. The audience rewarded the performers with several minutes of standing ovation.
The magical marathon continued on Sunday morning with meetings and professional seminars by international guests Alain Simonov and Anca & Lucca. In the afternoon, the festival concluded with a public family program MAGICAL SUNDAY, featuring performances by Jiří Hadaš with his assistant Renatka, Jakub Koutský, magician Elenka, Lukáš Mistr, and a spectacular bubble show by Matěj Kodeš.
